2.3 Piping, Vent, Above Grade in the building and within 5 feet of the building, shall be either a cast iron, no-hub system, equal to sanitary sewer described above, or a galvanized steel system.

2.3.1 Pipe: Steel ASTM A53 schedule 40, galvanized.

2.3.2 Fittings: Cast Iron threaded ASME B16.1 or Malleable Iron threaded ASME B16.3.

2.4 Floor Cleanouts shall be cast iron body, round nickel bronze scoriated top, no-hub connection, rated for medium load wheeled traffic, finished height adjustable after setting in floor, with threaded plug and gas-tight seal. Mfr and model: J.R. Smith 4020-NH, Zurn ZN-1400-NH, or approved equal.

2.5 Ground Cleanouts shall be cast iron body, round cast iron non-slip top, no-hub connection, rated for extra heavy load wheeled traffic, finished height adjustable after setting in pavement, with threaded plug and gas-tight seal, with vandal-resistant top. Mfr and model: J.R. Smith 4220S-U, Zurn Z-1400-HD, or approved equal.

2.6 Wall Cleanouts shall be cast iron body, with threaded plug and gas-tight seal, with polished stainless steel access cover.

2.7 Floor Drains and Shower Drains shall be cast iron body with flashing collar, no-hub outlet, round nickel bronze strainer head, rated for medium load wheeled traffic, finished height adjustable after setting in floor, with trap primer connection. Full size trap may be integral or installed as a separate component. Size shall be as shown on plans, if not shown on plans shall be 2" outlet and 5" strainer head. Mfr and model: J.R. Smith 2005Y-A-NB-P050 (without trap), Zurn ZN-415-B (without trap), J.R. Smith 2031S-A-NB-P050 (with integral trap), Zurn-453-B (with integral trap), or approved equal.

2.8 Floor Sinks (Sanitary Receptors) shall be cast iron body, no flashing collar, with white acid resisting porcelain enamel interior, with nickel bronze top rim frame, rectangular, with dome bottom strainer, rated for medium load wheeled traffic, no-hub outlet. Size shall be as shown on plans, if not shown on plans shall be 2" outlet, 12"x12" top x 6" depth. Mfr and model: J.R. Smith 3115Y, Zurn ZN-1900-NH, or approved equal.

2.9 Traps shall be cast iron, factory cast, single piece assemblies, same size as connections at both ends, providing trap meeting Code.

2.10 Trap primers (trap primer valve) shall be a product specifically designed only for automatic water release to replenish water evaporated from floor drain traps, with factory made splitter (distribution unit) by same manufacturer when splitting of trap primer output is required by plans. Trap primers may also be products specifically designed to obtain water from the tailpiece of a flushometer valve, and shall be a product approved by the manufacturer of the flushometer valve. Mfr and model: Sioux Chief "Prime Perfect", Zurn Z-1022, or approved equal.

PART 3 EXECUTION

3.1 Install materials in accordance with manufacturer's recommendations and the California Plumbing Code (CPC).

3.2 Piping and fittings shall be free of internal dirt and extraneous material when installed, and shall be protected against entry of dirt and extraneous material during and after installation.

3.3 Excavations. Excavations shall be shored in accordance with all Federal OSHA and State OSHA regulations. Bottoms of trenches shall have a minimum of 4" sand bed under bottom of pipe. Excavations shall be dry immediately before piping is installed and shall be dry when pressure tests are performed. Backfill of trenches shall be compacted to 95% in lifts of 12". Install digging ribbon tape and an electrically continuous trace wire 12" above all buried piping.

3.4 Piping shall be installed straight. Joints shall be aligned within tolerance specified by no-hub coupling manufacturer. Piping shall be installed parallel and perpendicular to walls, except where indicated otherwise on plans. Piping shall be routed as near to walls and ceilings as practical, and grouped together as practical, to maximize available space for other uses.

3.5 No-hub couplings shall be tightened to manufacturer's recommendations with a torque wrench.

3.6 Piping shall be sloped to drain in accordance with the CPC, generally 1/4" per foot. Piping shall be pressure tested with water in accordance with the CPC. Provide sufficient notice to Owner's inspector to inspect and verify these requirements before covering the pipe.

3.7 Install top of floor cleanouts, floor drains, floor sinks and shower drains flush with finished floor. Tolerance: + 0" higher, - 1/8" lower. Install top of ground cleanouts flush with finished pavement or surrounding unfinished grade, same tolerance. Mark cleanouts at unfinished grade with a welded-on rod and flag, or as directed by the Owner's representative.

3.8 Exposed piping shall be painted to match adjacent material's finish. Concealed sanitary sewer and vent piping shall not be painted.

3.9 Piping passing through fire-rated walls, floors, ceilings or roofs shall be protected as required to maintain fire rating.

3.10 Roof penetrations of vent piping shall be weathertight using detail approved by Owner's Architect.
